Jamaican police are treating the death of the late Pakistani coach, Bob Woolmer, as "suspicious". Accordingly, an investigation has been launched to decipher whether or not Woolmer's death was as a result of foul play.

Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room in Jamaica the morning after Pakistan's shock defeat at the hands of the Irish. He was later pronounced dead at the University Hospital of the West Indies. This latest revelation is one of many incidents surrounding the Pakistan team in the days following the team's defeat in the opening game of the World Cup to the West Indies.

Yesterday, the Pakistan selection committee submitted its resignation, stating "that the committee's tenure was up to the 2007 World Cup and that it shares responsibility for the team's performance in the World Cup". The committee's resignation also follows the announcement by Captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq, that he will retire from ODI cricket following his side's final match in the World Cup today against Zimbabwe.

In related news, World Cup officials must be anxiously awaiting the Super Eights and matches away from Jamaica as former Irish President and chairman of the Irish Cricket Union, Bob Kerr, died of an apparent heart attack at his hotel in Ocho Rios this morning.
