What is it about Grenada?

Grenada, a tiny island of just over 100,000 residents, has been the scene of some 'indiscretions' by at least two cricket teams at the World Cup. The slogan of the Grenada Board of Tourism is "Spice Up Your Life" and some cricketers definitely have been enjoying the Spice Isle to the maximum. Apparently Grenada has quite a party scene!

On Good Friday (April 6) night, a group of West Indian cricketers were enjoying themselves at Grenada's Club Bananas, when an irrate fan accosted one player in particular and brandished a firearm at him. Maybe the fan was upset at seeing the West Indians partying only days before the crucial April 10 South Africa game while they were humiliated in their previous three Super 8 matches. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident. Team spokesman Imran Khan confirmed the incident and stressed that the player involved was not Brian Lara as had been reported in the media.  read more »

Naughty Freddie

Today England defeated a stubborn Canadian squad without the services of allrounder Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff. Flintoff had been suspended for the match reportedly after hotel workers had to fetch him from floating on a pedalo at 4 am Saturday morning after a night of drinking. In addition, he has also been sacked as vice captain of the team. In St Kitts, there was another 200+ run defeat for Holland, the 4th such defeat for a minnow at this tournament.  read more »
